This is one of the most astonishing, overwhelming, magical places I’ve ever been. It just keeps going on and on and on forever and ever and ever. It’s an overwhelming number of books, it just starts to blur your vision. I’m genuinely ashamed I never once came here during my four years in CU. I’ve been to a LOT of bookstores, but this is perhaps the greatest. A must-visit location for anyone and everyone.

Extraordinarily wide selection of books in excellent condition. Carpet needs updating, but for some people, who cares? For used booklovers, it's worth a special trip.

Pros: -you can drop off books there to be assessed for store credit -cool and interesting selection of books -nice historic old feel to shop -friendly employees Other info: -no elevator or restrooms that I know of so just be aware of this ahead of time -only can be offered store credit for books that I know of instead of cash -no parking lot because it is in downtown Champaign but there is street parking around the area

A wonderful used book store with a large and varied selection. From the outside the shop looks small but it has an upstairs as well. Rooms focused on various themes. I found several great business books and some hobby books. I encourage anyone who likes used bookstores to stop by. It has that used bookstore feeling and smell that gets an old guy like me ready to spend all day looking through titles.

Wonderful used book shop. Shopped there while visiting relatives in the area. Came away with five books from a well stocked poetry section. Will definitely visit again next time I’m in town.

This bookstore is absolutely amazing! We were on the hunt for the Jersey Boys collection and were thrilled to find several volumes. But what truly stood out to us was the impressive collection in the science section, which included several books on computational science, astronomy, and anthropology. Some of the rarest were a bit expensive, but others were almost a gift! If you’re a science enthusiast, this shop is a hidden gem! The store is also very well-organized, making it easy to navigate. We did notice a limited selection of horror books, but that didn’t detract from the overall experience. Another highlight was the art decoration of the shop, their selection of new arrivals, gardening books, cards, stickers, and vintage postcards. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and we especially appreciated how easy the payment process was. We highly recommend this bookstore to book lovers or to anyone looking for a diverse range of books and unique items! Public parking is available but can be a bit tricky to find a spot, as the bookstore is located in a relatively busy commercial area.

I visited Jane Addams Book Shop, a used bookstore, and had a really enjoyable experience overall. The shop is very cute and spans three stories, giving it a fun, exploratory feel. The books are well organized by genres and categories, making it easy to browse while still feeling like a bit of a treasure hunt. There are ladders available to reach higher shelves, which adds to the charm and character of the space. Prices felt decent and reasonable, especially for a used bookstore, and there was a good variety of book conditions depending on what you’re looking for. The atmosphere is inviting, with small seating areas scattered throughout where you can sit and flip through books. There’s also a dedicated kids’ section and space for younger readers, which makes it feel family-friendly and welcoming. Checkout was quick and easy, and the overall flow of the store was simple and efficient. It’s the kind of place that makes you appreciate having local bookstores where books can find new homes. Overall, I’d definitely come back again—great place to browse, explore, and spend some time discovering new reads.
